Academic Development
In 1981 A.D sociology and
anthropology was formally introduced in Nepal under the Chairmanship of
Chaitanya Mishra. The academic
development was started from the degree level of degree level of education of
sociology and anthropology.
In 1985 sociology &
anthropology was introduced in bachelor level in 4 different colleges at the
first time, like as Trichandra Campus, Mahendra Morang Campus, Patan Multiple
Campus, Prithivi Narayan Campus. In present context different private colleges,
community colleges, & Government College have started teaching sociology
& anthropology in bachelor level. In 1999 A.D, it has been lunched in
higher secondary level & secondary level education as a optional subject.
In recent years it has been extended different part of the country where +2,
Bachelor & Degree level colleges are establish. M.Phil program is also
lunch in Tribhuwan University. Different universities have already started
teaching sociology in bachelor and master level. Some of the science faculty
like as forestry, agriculture, engineering medicine & nursing also include
the study of sociology & anthropology in their curriculum.
More than 20 journals have been
publish form Tribhuwan university and other organizations. SASON was establish
in 1984 & publish the journal anthropology & sociology of Nepal, SAMAJ
forms Trichandra Campus. Different seminar, workshop, discussion, &
publishing the different books & booklets, articles, by native &
foreign scholars in the academic sector of sociology & anthropology. There
are limited cultural exchange programs between American universities and
Tribhuwan University, Norwaygien University & Tribhuwan University to
develop the institutional relationship and exchange the academic development
programs.
In this way academic development
of sociology & anthropology has been establish in recent years.
